LOTUS TAKUMA

Takuma Sato's Indy Racing League Lotus Dallara

Lotus is back in IndyCars, and it's there to stay. After launching its own F1 team (in name, anyway) andannouncing its intentions to expand further into other forms of motorsport, the legendary British firm revealedits sponsorship – together with engine partner Cosworth – of one of KV Racing's cars in the IndyCar Series, which former F1 driver Takuma Sato has been piloting (with limited success) this season.

Now Lotus is hinting at increased involvement in the series for next season and beyond, but has not indicated just what that might entail. The car it currently fields is neither built by Lotus nor powered by Cosworth: it's a Dallara chassis and a Honda engine, as per the series regulation. In fact, Lotus doesn't even run the car itself – that it leaves up to KV Racing Technology(Indianapolis), the team run by former Champ Car chief Kevin Kalkhoven.
