ミスター・ジムカーナ、Ken Block は、ゲーム・ソフトのプロモーションで

ロンドンに在るBattersea Power Station ( ピンク・フロイドのジャケット

にもなっている 昔の火力発電所跡 ) で、ビキニ・モデルを同乗させ、

その腕前を披露した。

同乗したモデルも、けっこう楽しんでしまったようだ。

まあ、プロのやる事は ケタが違うので、あまりマネをしないように ?

Alfa Romeo / ZAGATO

この美しさは なんだ？ と言うほど自分はAlfa Romeo に精通しているワケではない。

まして、イタリアには 行った事も無い。　更に、この後ろ姿は、挑戦的でさえある。

ツラ構えと後ろ姿、この２者が整ってこそ、その存在感は完璧なものと成り得る。

ここ数年の ZAGATO を見る限り、その両立が確認される。

これはもう、イタリアにしか あり得ないものであろう。　認めざるを得ない。

でも、ZAGATO はその昔 英国で ちゃんと、その足跡を残しているのだが。

さて、この オン・ロード用に準備された"Stradale" だが、其の由来は

１９６３年に存在した "TZ" (Tubolare ZAGATO) による。

今回とりあえず、わずか９台のみ製作される１台目は米国のコレクター、

Eric King が入手しているが、次の２台目、３台目は日本とヨーロッパに

向かうらしい。

Dodge Viper ACR の V１０ / ８.４リッターを搭載するこの Stradare は、

６０年代に ZAGATO が手掛けた"Coda Tronca"デザインで、

同様なものは "Daytona Cobra" が有名だ。

ちなみに、"Daytona Cobra" は、 すばらしく上質な リ・プロダクション

のものを手に入れる事ができるので、当店にお問い合わせ頂きたい。

Nice Pleasure of Caterham

先週来、当ブロフでも告知していた様に、

Tony Fernandes ( F-１ Team Lotus Owner ) によるCaterham の買収劇は、

決定的となったようだ。

Fernandes が Autocar 誌 に語った所によると、彼は 従来からのケーターハムの伝統を
重んじつつ、今後のケーターハムの生産と販売について、更なる発展の手助けになる様に、

又、新しいマーケットの開拓にもなる 様々な企画を、Team Lotus の名のもとに

遂行していく所存であると、公言したようである。

また、ケーターハムの実質的なオーナーであった ベンチャー・キャピタルのCOVERN は、

これによって退去するが、現場の社長であるAnsar Ali は留まる事になった。

この７月のBritish Grand Prix では、Caterham がF1 でのTeam Lotus の傘下に

収まった事を、改めて大々的に発表することになろう。

これらの事は、より良いカタチでの発展を望むこそあれ、決して全然別な改革

をやるワケではない。 "Seven の真髄は全てに優先する ! " と言う事である。

（ちなみに、ロータス本社は、"全然別な改革”　を目指している。）

更に、Fernandes は Autocar の質問に答えて、

" 我々は, F1 チームを運営することが、ロードカー・ビジネスにも転嫁できる事を
以前から考えていたので、今回の事は、新たなブランド力の創造に続がると確信している。
ケーターハムとF1 というシンボライズなジョイントこそ、しごく当然な帰結である。" と語った。

Team Lotus Enterprise purchases Caterham Cars Exciting future

for British sportscar brand

Team Lotus Enterprise today announces that it has purchased

British sportscar maker Caterham Cars.

The acquisition by Tony Fernandes, Kamarudin Meranun and SM Nasarudin,

the men behind the Team Lotus Formula 1 squad, from the shareholder

consortium led by Corven Ventures, will see

the legendary lightweight sportscar manufacturer expand its brand

profile and product family.

The acquisition of Caterham Cars by Team Lotus Enterprise will not only

signal the continued development of the legendary Seven, but will provide

Caterham with the platform to apply its philosophy of 'adding lightness'

to exciting new models for the 21st Century.

This exciting new era for Caterham will be led by the company's existing

management team, headed up by Caterham Cars Managing Director Ansar Ali.

Ansar's direction has been responsible for energising Caterham's

export prowess during the last five years, creating the iconic

Superlight R500 - Top Gear's Car of the Year for 2008 - and Caterham's

first brand new model in 15 years, the stunning SP/300.R sports prototype racer.

As custodians of Colin Chapman's two-seater Seven since 1973,

Caterham has been responsible for the evolution of a car originally conceived

as a 'fit for purpose' race-car for the road in 1957.

Today, the Seven is arguably the benchmark for the perfect balance

between power and intuitive, user-friendly handling, and in spite of its years

remains one of the most raced cars in the world. It has also been

the inspiration for the recently-launched Caterham-Lola SP/300.R

for the race and track day community.

Tony Fernandes said: "Caterham has a unique place at the heart of

it has an enviable and uniquely unblemished reputation within

SPECIAL EDITION SEVEN LAUNCHES

NEW CATERHAM CHAPTER

To celebrate its new ownership, iconic British sportscar marque

Caterham Cars will build a limited run of Team Lotus Special Edition Sevens.

Just 25 of the Team Lotus upgrade packages, which can be applied

to any variant up to the top-of-the-range 263bhp, 150mph Superlight R500,

will be built in the UK, with the same number allocated to

the Company's thriving export markets.

For an additional £3,000 over the price of your chosen car, the Sevens

will be specially-liveried in the famous green and yellow colours of

Lotus and will come with a raft of bespoke Team Lotus additions.

Included in the upgrade package will be an invitation to a customised

tour of the Team Lotus F1 factory in Hingham, Norfolk.

As custodians of Colin Chapman's original '50s concept

for the Seven since 1973, Caterham Cars' current product range remains

true to Chapman's philosophy of lightweight, minimalist sportscars.

Outside, the cars will be coated in a Team Lotus-inspired livery

and the theme continues in the cockpit, with a plaque carrying

the signatures of Team Lotus F1 drivers, Jarno Trulli and

Heikki Kovalainen. Owners will also receive a Seven history book

signed by chief designer, Mike Gascoyne.

Caterham managing director, Ansar Ali, said:

so it's entirely fitting that we celebrate our opportunity to take

Colin Chapman's 'less is more' philosophy global, with this special car.

２０１１ New York Auto Show でのひとコマ。

かっての（？）人気バンド、"Kiss" の ‘MINI Rocks the Rivals’ に

ちなんで、MINI USA が用意した４台のMINI。

４種類のカスタム・ラップされたMINI は、５月２９日の eBay の

チャリティー・オークションに出展され、その売り上げは、今回 地震で被災した、

日本の子供たちにも、ユニセフを通じて届けられることになっている。

尚、この４種類のカスタム・ラップは、＄８５０で自分のMINIに貼る事もできる。

でも、今の日本の子供たちは、"Kiss" は知らないだろうが、ま、いいか。

ちなみに、私も、ツェッペリン以前じゃないと、判りません。

"Automotive Ad of the Year"を受賞する等、なかなかの人気を

セレモニーでも、FORD の受賞と共に、大変 話題を呼んでいるところだ。

上の写真からは、おや、また新しいアルファ、かと思いきや、Lexus の別ブランド、

"Scion" でした。しかも、スバルとのジョイントで生まれた２リッター

(２.５リッター版も？）

Boxer Flat ４ を積んだFR仕様で、先週からのニューヨーク・ショーで披露された。

この "Scion FR-S" は、今年のジュネーブにあったFT-86 " II " コンセプトが

ベースとなっているようだが、今どき 小振りな FR で、往年の" ハチロク "の

魂を引き継ぎ、随所に新機構も取り入れられ、それなりの容姿に仕上がっている。

マニュアルとオートマの６速で、パドルシフトになる。もう少しの手直しを加えて、

来年には発売したい意向。　

" lightweight design and short wheelbase" で.、いい走りが期待できそうだ。

スバルのフラット・フォーを積んだ事自体は、..... すばらしい !

でも、車重１０００Kg 以内で ......... ,　収まらないだろうな。

要は、我々が追求すべき最優先は、" 軽さ " なのだから。（７００Kg 以下です。）

April 20, 2011 - New York - Scion unveiled the rear-wheel drive FR-S Concept sports coupe to- day at the 2011 New York International Auto Show. The concept, which sets out to stimulate the souls of true driving enthusiasts, will be at the Scion display through May 1. The FR-S Concept will inspire a new model coming to the Scion brand next year.

The FR-S Concept, which stands for Front-engine, Rear-wheel drive, Sport; is Scion's defini- tion of an authentic rear-wheel-drive sports car with compelling style, exceptionally balanced perfor- mance and handling, flexible utility and surprising MPG.

"Scion is always experimenting with new things," said Jack Hollis, Scion vice president. "The brand is iconic with the xB, adrenalized by the tC, and groundbreaking with the iQ. The FR-S will expand the brand into yet another new dimension that I know it is truly destined for."

The FR-S is a true "scion," born into a lengthy history of Toyota performance cars and motor- sports. The sports coupe is most inspired by the AE86 generation of the Corolla, better known as the Hachi-Roku, meaning "8-6" in Japanese. The front-engine, rear-wheel drive coupe was lightweight and well balanced, making it a solid choice for driving enthusiasts.

Inspired by the AE86, the FR-S is built around the core goal of achieving "pure balance," which begins with the strategic placement of a flat 2.0-liter boxer engine in a front-engine, rear-wheel drive configuration. The engine's compact size and shape allows the FR-S' powertrain to be mounted lower and further back towards the rear, giving the car a lower center of gravity and a dynamically favorable front-to-rear weight ratio.

The FR-S' naturally-aspirated engine is innovative, being the first boxer to incorporate Toyota's D4-S injection system, which utilizes both direct and port injection, resulting in increased horsepower and torque throughout the entire powerband, without sacrificing MPG.

The flat-four can mate with either a six-speed manual or a six-speed automatic transmission. The manual offers quick and precise shifts with a short-throw, while the automatic transmission features aggressive, sporty shifts that are initiated by steering- wheel-mounted paddle shifters. Power is distributed effectively via a limited-slip differential.

The idea of "pure balance" is further realized by the FR-S' lightweight design and short wheelbase. The combination allows the car to be quick and nimble into and out of any corner, with dynamic maneuverability and confident stability.

"Akio Toyoda has mentioned that he is going to bring the fun-to-drive spirit back to Toyota," Hollis said. "I know that the Scion FR-S Concept is one of the ways that he plans to accomplish that." The fierce exterior of the FR-S is a good reflection of its inner power. The intimidating proportions of the concept give it a dominant stance that bleeds performance. The profile, inspired by the Toyota 2000GT, reveals a hood-line that is remarkably sleek and low, made possible by the boxer's architecture.

The low stance continues to exaggerate the FR-S' menacing face, which is made up of sharp lines, a wide mouth and angular headlights that include bright LED clusters.

The solid panel roofline is sleek, lightweight and rigid, slotted with an aerodynamic shape that channels air cleanly over to the top.

The front fenders protrude upward, making space for the massive monoblock Five Axis 20x8.5-inch wheels, while the muscular rear fenders are widened to house the 20x10.5-inch wheels, emphasizing the FR-S' staggered stance and rear-wheel-drive setup.

The rear fascia sits low and wide, with extensive lower treatments that surround the dual exhaust exits and contribute to excellent aerodynamics. LEDs illuminate both the edgy taillights and the bold "SCION" logo.

The concept features four-piston-caliper front brakes that clamp down on monstrous 18-inch annular carbon ceramic matrix rotors that are fixed to the wheels in a motorcycle-fashion. The FR-S Concept is layered in rich coats of Code Red, the appropriately named color that consists of a custom blend of candy and a developmental additive from BASF called Mearlite SSQ

Tony Fernandes 率いるTeam Lotus は、来週の水曜日にDuxford 飛行場で

行うイベントで、Caterham社の売却に関して、買い受ける旨であることと、

併せて、F１チーム関連の"exciting announcement" を発表する模様だ。

現在 Caterham は、本来の創業者であったGraham Nearn がその生前、

Covern Venture と タイアップした元ロータスのゼネラル・マネージャーである

Ansar Ali に売却して、その生産が続けられていたが、このたび再度、

Ali から Fernandes に引き継がれることになる。

Fernandes は現在、AirAsia のオーナーでもある。

但し、Team Lotus の名前が、いきなり、Caterham になる事は無いだろうが、

exciting な発表をすると言ってるので、チョットしたサプライズはあるかも。

しかし、Fernandes がケーターハムを買うという事だけでも、充分なサプライズ

ではあるのだが。それとも、ロータス本社との間で燻ぶっていた"Team Lotus" の

商標の使用権について、決着が着いたのだろうか？　　さて、いかに !

CIVIC / HONDA

日本では、"CIVIC" の人気は、今一つになってしまったが、

アメリカではアコードに次いで人気車種のポジションを維持している。

今月のニューヨーク・ショーでは、ホンダ・ブースの主たる位置を

占めて、新しい価格も発表されたところだ。

来年には自社開発のビジネス・ジェットのデリバリーも始まり、

米国でのブランド・イメージは、さらにアップしていくことは間違いない。

Top Marques Monaco

先週後半、日曜日まで、モナコのグリマルディ・フォーラムを会場として、

"Top Marques Monaco" が開催された。

ヨーロッパやアメリカでは、普段、日本の自動車雑誌には紹介されていない

ショーやイベントが多数 開催されているが、このモナコのショーも、

あまり一般には知られていない。　と言うよりも、一般にはあまり縁のない

High-End な高級車やヨットが展示され、そこに訪る日本人もほとんど居ない。

もちろん、今、日本は震災でそれどころではないし、此処しばらくは

色んな事をガマンしなければいけない状態だ。

しかし、それとは別に、世界では、こんな連中もいるんだという事を、

今後の為に是非、頭に入れておかなければならない。

その意識を持たない限りは、いつまでたっても日本は、世界の一流には

なり得ない。私如きが、こんな事を云うのは大変僭越な事だが、事実だと思う。

ただ、いつまでも我慢していると、日本は それで終わってしまうので、

このブログの読者諸氏は、是非ともめげずに、あらゆる事に挑戦し続けて欲しい。

そうすることが、必ずや日本の復興と再生に繋がるものだと確信する。

LOTUS は２０１２年から５年間にわたり、IZOD Indycar シリーズに於いて、

今迄のエンジン・サプライヤーであるHONDA 、 ＣＨＥＶＲＯＬＥＴに次いで

３番目のサプライヤーとなることが決定した。併せてエアロ・パーツも

供給する。ベース・シャーシは引き続き、Dallara がオフィシャルとなる。

ロータスはこのところKV Racing(means Kevin Kalkhoven & JImmy Vasser)
のチームにレース・パーツやノウハウを提供してきたが、今後もそのコネクションは
引き継がれる。

エンジンはE８５ルールに準拠してコスワースで組み上げ、供給される。

１９６５年にLOTUS Type ３８が、ジム・クラークのドライブで優勝した時の

栄光を再び取り戻すことが出来るだろうか？

英国には、チョットどうかなと思ってしまう、キット・カーが けっこう在るのだけれど、

この"TONIQ" は、"けっこう" まともなクルマです。

価格も、決して安くはないし、出来映えも決して、ケーターハムほど良くは無い。

でも、そのユニークな生い立ちと、存在感は、あなどれないものがあるし、

"AUTOCAR" のレポートを見ても、その操作性と運動性能はスムースで満足

できるものであるとしている。

特に、ケーターハム・スーパーライトと同等な５００Kgそこそこの車体重量は、

特筆に値する。　"軽さは全てに優先" するからだ。

日本でこのクルマを所有し、人前で、"オレはこういうクルマにのってるんだ ! "

的な自慢はしてもいいと思う。　"こういうクルマ" をチョイスできるあなたは、

評価されて良いものだ。

エンジンは２リッター・Ford Duratec で、１８０～２５０馬力の間で選択でき、

LSD はCB２００以上がスタンダードで、ミッションは日本のマツダの６速が着く。

（CB１８０は５速、６速はオプション。１８０馬力６速の選択は良いと思う。）

価格は４９５～５８０万円＋登録諸費用で オン・ロードだ。
